Pharrell apologizes for wearing native headdress on cover of Elle UK

You probably  heard the unfortunate news already, some fans are not too happy with Pharrell over his recent choice of headwear.
For the new issue of Elle UK, it sure was not Pharrell's idea but  clearly someone thought  the idea to have the "Happy" singer wear a Native American headdress,  which some in that community have called insensitive being that the headwear is considered to be sacred garb reserved for chiefs and warriors, grand!  Some even began using the hashtag #NotHappy on Twitter to express their ire over his cultural appropriation with messages that stated, “headdresses are not costumes.”
Pharrell  later understood his part in it and apologized after #NOThappy started showing up on Twitter and comments such as "Native Americans are people, not fashion. Disappointed" piled up on his Facebook page.
Pharrell, through a rep, said, “I respect and honor every kind of race, background and culture. I am genuinely sorry.”

According to the Washington Post , a note on Elle's site , since removed, read: "[W]e persuaded ELLE Style Award winner Pharrell to trade his Vivienne Westwood mountie hat for a native American feather headdress in his best ever shoot."

Ouch!

Jay-Z Opens Luxury 40/40 Bar in Atlanta Airport

The "Holy Grail" rapper has just opened his 40/40 club at the Atlanta airport. Jay-Z’s popular 40/40 night club has received another location, the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta. A spokeswoman that works with Jay-Z, Victoria Hong of Delaware North Companies, detailed that the club is located in the airport's Concourse D concessions area.

We want to have the same type of feel as the regular 40/40 Club. It’s the airport version of the 40/40 Club,” said Victoria Hong, a partner of Jay’s.”

Director of airport concessions, Paul Browns said they have plans to design a VIP lounge area that will be separate from the sports bar and on a different floor.

While promoting the opening of his Manhattan location, Jay-Z said about the club, “I love sports and wanted to create an environment that is conducive to match my lifestyle, while watching the games at the same time. When we were thinking of a name, we wanted something exclusive-the 40/40 Club in baseball is as exclusive as it gets.” The hot spot located in Manhattan and the Barclay center in Brooklyn, has been designed into a luxury bar exclusive to air ticket holders.

Fierce: Tyra Banks for Black Magazine

banks13

Tyra Banks is one inspirational model that will always be known as one of the best  super model.

The former Sports Illustrated model talks fashion and her accomplishments.
On how she first found fashion: “To be honest, I wasn’t attracted to the fashion industry, the fashion industry found me. I was discovered on a school bench the first day of high school by a fellow student. I thought I was far too awkward and gawky to ever be associated with modeling but it was actually those qualities that launched my early career.”
On early roadblocks to her career: “The major roadblock was the color of my skin. It was difficult being an African American face in the industry. Fortunately, my mother taught me that it wasn’t me, Tyra Banks, the person, being picked apart; they viewed me as a product, so I rarely took it personally.”
On career achievements: “The ones that stand out are signing a contract with CoverGirl cosmetics, doing a Superbowl Pepsi commercial with Cindy Crawford, my idol. Being an original Victoria’s Secret Angel for 10 years and being on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, twice.”
On how the public reacted to her going from modeling to TV production: “The interesting thing is a lot of people think that I just produce Top Model or host it but people don’t understand that I created the idea and it is the very first fashion themed reality show in history. I chuckle when people think I signed on to do it.”
